This Nascar-Engined Toyota GT86 Is The Driftiest Car Ever
Quick stat-check: at CT we love crazy engine swaps, and we love the Toyota GT86. Now imagine if someone were to combine those two fine ingredients, and video the results. Your wish? Our command. Here's the smokey shot before the rain...
...and here's the slippery one after it. Hoon!
The car in question is the RS-R competition-spec Toyota GT86, packing a normally aspirated racing V8 from a Nascar. Power is upwards of 700bhp (three and a half times that of the standard 2.0-litre flat-four '86) and is sent to the rear wheels only, of course. As if you needed telling.
Strictly, this was never actually a Toyota. It's merely a racing spaceframe chassis and powertrain with a GT86 body bolted over the top, with extra holes for the engine and wheelarch extensions. It's an American superhero pretending to be Japanese, but who cares?
This excellent machine will compete in the Formula Drift Asia championship, and frankly, we want tickets. Just check out that stance!
