Back in February, a devastating sinkhole appeared in the middle of the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky. A number of rare, valuable Corvettes were swallowed up by the hole, but since it has proved a massive attraction for the museum, it’s staying.

The museum’s board got together to discuss their options, which included filling the hole in, leaving it as it is, or reducing its size. They’ve ultimately decided on the final option, reducing its size and providing views into the cave. A dirt embankment could even be put in place to display cars.

The museum has seen a 59 per cent increase in visitors since the incident occurred, and hope that by memorialising this new piece of its history it’ll continue to see high visitor numbers. Construction work will begin in September, so you can head down and see the sinkhole in all its glory until then.
