This New Bentley Continental GT Celebrates Bavaria For Some Reason
Of all the things a one-off car could honour, a federal state in the south of Germany seems like an odd one. That hasn’t stopped Bentley, though.
Behold the snappily-named Continental GT Convertible Bavaria Edition by Mulliner, example one of one. It’s due to be presented to the world in a lavish ceremony at Bentley’s Munich showroom soon.
Hand-built by Bentley’s Mulliner division at the Crewe factory, it’s finished in Glacier White with an Imperial Blue canvas roof; the colours of the Bavarian regional flag. There’s an enamel flag motif on the front wings, too, in Mulliner Bespoke White and Light Blue Sport.
The wheels are 22-inch Mulliner Driving Specification items and the interior is one we could happily live in. This time we’re back to Imperial Blue leather with Mulliner Glacier White dual veneer. The seat headrests feature the same flag emblem as rests on the wings, in Mulliner Bespoke White and Light Blue Sport.
A Bavaria Edition inlay on the kick plates completes the logo-fest. Bentley describes this one-off Continental GT soft-top as a collector’s car and we’d imagine it was pre-sold either to a commissioning buyer or to a preferred client in the south German region. Bentley hasn’t provided details.
Of course, Bentley’s sister company Audi is based at Ingolstadt, in the heart of Bavaria. Its new owner could very easily be a high-ranking Audi executive.
Mulliner, part of Bentley since 1959, can trace its bespoke coachbuilding services back to the 1500s, when it built luxurious carriages for posh horses. These days its purpose is to meet the personalisation demands of Bentley’s most exacting customers. We’d say this particular buyer is rather fond of his homeland.
