The new Hyundai Genesis will automatically slow down if you’re above the limit as you approach a speed camera.

GPS technology is used so the system knows when it is approaching a speed camera. “It knows there is a speed camera there, it knows where the speed camera is and it will adopt the correct speed,” a Hyundai spokesman told Drive.com.au.

The Genesis - which goes on sale in the UK this summer - is a luxury saloon car that Hyundai hopes will tempt buyers away from BMW and Mercedes-Benz, so innovative technology is a must. It has automatic braking technology to help avoid a collision, and uses this to alter the car’s speed to avoid speeding tickets.

The car will alert you 800m ahead of a camera, so there should be plenty of time to safely bring the car down to the posted limit. We’re usually against technology that takes control away from the driver, but the prospect of avoiding tickets is appealing. What do you think? Tell us in the comments.
