New Seat Leon FR+ Supercopa

This generation of Leon has been with us since 2005, but even though its last nip and tuck was 3 years ago, it still looks fresh. Like Katie Price, Janice Dickinson and Madonna though, it still couldn't resist going back to the plastic surgeons for some more work this year and the latest result is the new Supercopa.
Immediately noticeable are the cheek implants which make the front bumper stand out more and it also got itself a bigger bottom at the back. More discreet differences include smart side skirts, twin chrome exhausts and the boot spoiler is a little bit bigger.
Then there's the name, Supercopa. Hardcore Seat fans will recognise it as the one-make racing brand but if you were to tell average Joe you had something called a 'Supercopa' then he would think you had something exotic and quick.
Inside, it's exactly the same as the FR+ which means trinkets like heavily bolstered sports seats, sportier steering wheel and the touch-screen system with satellite navigation, digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a slot for SD cards come as standard. You even get adaptive bi-xenons headlights, 18-inch BBS alloys and rear parking sensors in the package. You also get a choice of bespoke Supercopa colours; Emocion Red, Nevada White and my personal favourite, Speed Blue.
There's even the same choice of 2.0 VW Group engines; a TSI petrol with 208bhp, a 0-60mph time of 6.9 seconds, a top speed of 145mph and 38.7mpg or the more torquey TDI diesel with 167bhp, a 0-60mph time of 8.2 seconds, a top speed of 133mph and 55mpg.
Prices start at £22,530 which will get you the turbo diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual. That makes it £2000 less than its more posh cousin, the Golf GTD, but a shade more expensive than its other less attractive cousin, the Skoda Octavia vRS.
Think of this special edition Leon as a last hurrah since a brand new model should be due within a year or two. Hopefully, it won't be just a re-badged old Audi or VW like we've seen with the Exeo, Mii and, more recently, the Toledo. Instead, it should be an even more sexy and unique five-door hatch.
