New York: Additional Debuts from Subaru, Volkswagen, Bentley, Porsche
Well, it a wrap for today, and I thought I'd do a recap of some of the other debuts that happened today. I was over at the Subaru display area, and their new Legacy took the stage, in three different versions.
Well, it a wrap for today, and I thought I'd do a recap of some of the other debuts that happened today. I was over at the Subaru display area, and their new Legacy took the stage, in three different versions. They include the 4 cylinder 2.5i available with a new CVT transmission, the 2.5GT that receives a 265HP turbocharged engine, and the 3.6R with a new, more powerful, 256HP flat six. The Legacy itself, celebrating 20 years as a nameplate, competes with the much larger mid-sized vehicles in it's class like the Camry and the Accord.
While Subaru was introducing their Legacy, Volkswagen has introduced the new GTI and Golf models. The Golf will introduce a 2 liter TDI clean diesel with 140HP and over 236 lb / ft of torque. The GTI itself receives a 2 liter turbocharged 4, with 200 HP, with a standard 6 speed manual, or an optional DSG dual clutch transmission. The new look should attract new customers over to the VW brand.
Over at the upper end of the market, Bentley introduced what they termed as an eco friendly baby Continental, the Supersports. You see, this Super Bentley can run on Gasoline, or E85 BioFuel. With Ethanol, this Bentley can reach a top speed of 204MPH. That's a lot of corn! The Bentley pumps out over 620HP, and can run 0-60 in a little over 3 seconds.
Porsche was not to be left out of the introduction mix, the 911 GT3, and here's a surprise, it's powered by a naturally aspirated flat 6 producing 435 HP, and a little over 315 lb / ft of torque. What's the performance of this wonder Porsche? How about a top speed of 197, and a 0-60 time of 4 seconds... and a Red paint job that will sear your eyeballs off.
