The Next Hyundai i10 Will Look Surprisingly Angry
A worthy city car though it is, there’s not a whole lot about the Hyundai i10 that’s particularly desirable, is there? It doesn’t have the inherent cuteness of the VW Up, nor the funky styling of the Manga-inspired Toyota Aygo.
However, that could all be set to change, if this design sketch of the next i10 is anything to go by. Yes, it’s the usual deal of exaggerated lines and huge wheels, but even toned down, the new version should be a smart-looking thing.
There’s a big grille in the front with circular daytime running lights stuffed at either end, as though the i10 is doing its best Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato impression. There are sizeable triangular intakes, and further back, an ‘X-shaped C-pillar’. Hyundai says the car has an “energetic and agile look”.
In terms of equipment, Hyundai is promising smartphone connectivity, a rear-view camera and an optional high-beam assist. It’ll be - as you’d expect - packed with safety gear, including forward collision avoidance and a driver attention warning.
We’ll have to wait until the Frankfurt Motor Show to see the car in full. For now, we’ll just be dreaming of an i10 N…
