As far as automotive/movie tie-ups go, the ongoing collaboration Nissan has with Star Wars is a rather unusual one. At last year’s LA Auto Show the Japanese manufacturer went pretty full on with its Rogue One-inspired Nissan Rogue and full-size Tie Fighter (nope, we’re not joking on that last one), but the ante has well and truly been upped for 2017.

This time around, Nissan has cooked up seven Star Wars-themed vehicles for LA. And if you’ve never watched a film from the lucrative franchise, I’ll apologise in advance, as little of what I’m about to say will make sense. Here we go…

Based on the Maxima we have a Kylo Ren-themed creation, another based on Kylo Ren’s Tie ‘Silencer’ and one that’s riffing off shiny Stormtrooper Captain Phasma.

A solitary Altima has been given a ‘Special Forces Tie Fighter’ treatment, and finally we a Rogue and Rogue Sport, known as the Qashqai and X-Trail in Europe. The Rogue is a replica of Poe Dameron’s X-Wing, complete with BB-8 poking out the roof, and the Rogue Sport is inspired by an A-Wing. The seventh vehicle “and largest by far” is due to be revealed later today.

As if all that wasn’t enough, Nissan also has six X-Wing replicas ‘floating’ above its stand, several Star Wars-themed augmented/virtual reality experiences, and a bunch of storm troopers dropping by to visit over the next two weekends.

What do you think of these one-off vehicles? Pretty cool or just a bit too, err, forceful…?

What if this was one of EA’s sneeky ways to get some cash in after their Star Wars Battlefront 2 controversy? 🤔

Maybe that’s why the seventh one isn’t out yet - it’s payable DLC…

You need to buy the dlc to unlock the Star Wars inspired GT-R and 370Z

It was just a marketing gimmick I don’t get why everyone is so upset about these

“Upset” isn’t really the right word, here. “Confused” makes more sense.

At least use the 370 or GT-R for the tie fighter and x-wing ffs. Somebody needs to put the designers on suicide watch, I know I would if I made these things
