No, Apple Isn't Going To Take Over McLaren
After a sudden influx of rumours surrounding Apple and the British supercar brand, a spokesperson at McLaren has come forward and declared that the company is “not in discussion with Apple in respect of any potential investment.”
An article from the Financial Times today set the ball rolling, dictating Apple’s attempt to “transform the car industry” with a financial takeover of McLaren on top of their plans to manufacture a self-driving electric vehicle.
Apple has been seeking an inlet to the automotive industry for the past couple of years, making calls like hiring ex-Tesla executive Chris Porritt to aid the company’s latest developments. However, with funding being cut from its automotive programme in recent months, it appears that Apple is looking to venture into the operating systems and internals used to power a vehicle, rather than producing an entire car themselves.
Although McLaren has denied any takeover talks, that does not rule out any attempt from Apple to gain some vital knowledge from McLaren Special Operations on its expertise in electric motors and lightweight materials from the P1 programme.
Could McLaren’s cars be filled with Apple technology in the near future? We’ll have to wait and see…

Thats good because I don’t want the fuel filler cap to be replaced by the lightning connector.
Or they just get rid of it for wireless fueling
lmfao

THANK GOOOOOOD
“And this year, we’re going to give it less power while taking away some key features! Also, you’ll have to update the software a few times before you can get any functionality out of it. But it’s better, we swear!” -McApple.
Youre acting like a real McAppHole
LOL
‘The most powerful McLaren We’ve produced. Now up to 400 hp.’
‘Super. Car. Now Wireless’
Shame, it would have made for a “juicy” story
I didn’t want predictive steering anyways
Haha, brilliant!
Thank god, McLaren will still keep their exhausts!
I know McLaren are more of a tech company than a company aiming to create pure driving thrill, but I feel that apples rivalry with tesla would take over and we’d get even less exciting cars than we do now. I really hope that McLaren were telling the truth in their statement because I feel that Apple really wouldn’t understand the super car world and completely what the company stands for. Even with phones Apple severely pisses me off in the way that they try to be exclusive compared to the rest of the market
Good, we don’t want to have to use adapters to fuel the car or hear the exhausts.
You win
