BMW fans with a penchant for power, retro looks (I think you can almost call it retro now) and an engine and exhaust note to make even the most ardent BMW hater throw down his man bag and beg for more V8 noise, will be pleased to know that a very special E39 M5 has just come up for sale.

As the headline of this piece suggests, the M5 in question is factory fresh, and anyone with a Fitbit will have worked out the rough mileage - 10,000 steps per day (that’s recommended) is equal to around 300 miles of walking in just two months. That’s right, this M5 has only 309 genuine miles on the clock, which will mean that the tyres have barely turned and that the interior probably hasn’t been coughed, sneezed or eaten in…

According to the description by seller Enthusiast Auto Group, the M5 is fully optioned with Park Distance Control, M-Audio with Enhanced Bass, Power Rear Sunshade with Door Blinds, DVD, Sat-Nav and everything else you’d expect from a car with a £70,000 / $100,000 sticker price when new.

What’s more, Enthusiast Auto Group has also done a ‘full recommissioning program’ which includes new engine oil and filter change, transmission fluid change, differential fluid change, coolant flush, brake fluid flush, power steering fluid flush, and an engine air filter and fuel filter replacement. The M5 will also sit on a new set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres.

As you’ll no doubt already know, fire power comes courtesy of BMW’s 4.9-litre S62 V8 (the same engine used in the Z8) with 394bhp. The 0-60mph sprint takes 4.8 seconds, and without its 155mph limiter, it’s capable of hitting 186mph.

Now to answer the question you’re all wondering: how much for a box-fresh E39 M5? Enthusiast Auto Group says that prospective buyers need to call for the price (that’s dealer speak for ‘it’s really, really expensive’), but looking at the current market and judging by the fact that other E39 M5s with over 20k miles are up for sale at well over $50,000 at the same dealer, we wouldn’t be surprised if the price started with a ‘1’ and ended in ‘you’re kidding me, right?’ That’s right, chances are that it’ll be fast approaching $100,000.
