Now's Your Chance To Buy A Rare And Completely Unmolested Datsun 260Z

Days like this don't come around very often, but someone really is selling a totally original and completely standard Datsun 260Z. We'll fight you for it...
Now's Your Chance To Buy A Rare And Completely Unmolested Datsun 260Z

The Datsun 260Z is car porn. It’s an icon among late 1970s Japanese sports cars but most have either rusted away, been crashed, crushed or modified into oblivion. But in an incredibly rare barn find an auctioneer in the Midlands has found an absolutely original one – with just 8285 miles on the clock.

Stunning, right? The 1978 right-hand drive car has had two owners since new, with the seller having bought it in 1994. Sprayed in Copper Bronze Metallic, the seller apparently chose this one after a long search to find the very best one in the UK. It was used for just one year before being put into storage, where it stayed for 21 years.

Set to sell for between £18,000 and £22,000 it’s still in incredibly original condition, making hens’ teeth look ten-a-penny by comparison. The engine has been turned by hand, connected to an external fuel tank and started, with, the auctioneer says, “no obvious issues.”

The buyer will get the car’s full history file including past MOT test paperwork, the original handbook and service book, original tool roll, jack, wheel chock and even a letter from the Datsun Z Car Register confirming its low mileage.

It’s up for sale on September 26 at Classic Car Auctions’ sale in Warwickshire. Check out this and all the other cars for sale on the same day here.

Meh. I’d rather get myself an untouched 86 for the same price.

If I buy it, it won’t even be the same color. In fact, the devil himself will be driving that thing.
