Ogle The McLaren P1 GTR Inside And Out In These Gorgeous New Pics
We’ve already seen the exterior of the McLaren P1 GTR - a machine that’s set to become the hottest track weapon of all time - but now, we can get a good look at the interior and see the car in action on track. These lovely dynamic shots were taken at Bahrain International Circuit, where the P1 GTR is undergoing hot weather testing, but the big news is the interior snaps and details.
The carbonfibre seats - which are modelled on those found in DTM cars - are mounted directly to the chassis. These include six-point harnesses and are HANS device compatible. Not because racecar enough for you? Check out the steering wheel; it’s inspired by the one found on the MP4-23 F1 car that Lewis Hamilton won the championship with in 2008.
You’ll notice there’s no roll cage, and that’s because the P1 doesn’t need one. It has the same carbonfibre ‘MonoCage’ as the road car, which is already strong enough to pass the FIA’s rollover tests for GT race cars. This means a roomier environment for the driver, and to improve the driver’s comfort a little further, the air conditioning hasn’t been removed for the sake of weight saving. When owners are race-suited up on a hot day, that’s something they’ll rather appreciate.
McLaren has also released a new video (below) outlining the ‘P1 GTR Programme’ which owners will be signed up to. This includes simulator access, mental and physical training, and the choice of six out of 10-12 international track events in the first year.
