We’re huge fans of Burnout Paradise at CT. In fact, we’d argue it may well be the greatest arcade racer of all time. If you’ve never made a trip to Paradise City though, or want to revisit its glorious chaos, there’s no better time than now.

Burnout Paradise Remastered is currently available for £1.79/$1.99 on the PS Store as part of the PlayStation Spring Sale, a whopping 90 per cent off its usual price. That discount is set to remain until 24 April, so you do have a bit of time to think about it, although we reckon it’s a no-brainer if you don’t already own the game.

Originally released in 2008, Burnout Paradise was remastered in 2018. Admittedly, its remastering didn’t change a whole lot about the gameplay - mainly allowing for native 1080p rendering on PS4 and 4K on PS4 Pro (which it runs at on PS5, too) - but it didn’t need to.

Nothing from the original was lost either, with the single player unaltered and even complete with the original magnificent soundtrack, which isn’t always the case for games with licensed music.

Better still, it includes all of the DLC for Burnout Paradise at no extra cost. That means you’ll have the once paid-for legendary cars, cops cars and toy cars add-ons from the get-go. Paradise’s sole map expansion, Big Surf Island, is also a part of the package.

Despite EA having a notorious history of culling online game servers, Burnout Paradise Remastered’s multiplayer is still fully functional and even has an active group of players still racing. If you’re in need of anyone to help out with those Freeburn Challenges, drop us a line on socials.

Those playing on other platforms will have to wait for a sale, though. At the time of writing, the game is still full price on Xbox, Steam and Nintendo Switch. It’s worth noting that if you have an EA Play subscription (which is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate) you can also play Burnout for no additional cost.

Burnout Paradise to this day remains the most-recent mainline Burnout game (we’re ignoring Crash, a glorified mobile game), but that could soon change. Stellar Entertainment, the studio responsible for remastering Paradise has teased an upcoming AAA game with several references to Burnout.

For now, though, we’ll go back to tuning in to Crash FM for the latest updates from DJ Atomika.
