One Of The Sexiest And Most Desirable BMW E30 M3s Is For Sale Right Now On eBay
BMW fans will know the E30 M3 well. If you’re one of them, I’m sure you’ve probably surprised a few of your lesser-petrolhead friends when you told them that the original M3 was powered by an inline four-cylinder engine and not a silky-smooth six-cylinder lump as many people still assume. But did you know about the super limited-edition E30 M3 Europameister model of which only 148 were built?
If you didn’t know about it, then here’s a little history lesson before you jump into the eBay auction and place your bid (against 50 other people) for in excess of the current $86,100 (£53,700) bid.
The Europameister was produced for just three months (October - December) in 1988 to celebrate the company’s successful 1988 Touring Car season (those were the days). Using the same high-revving S14 inline-four engine, power remained unchanged at 195hp.
The differences between the standard M3 and the Europameister model, then, were aesthetic, and included special Macao Blue metallic paint, silver Nappa leather, door sill plates with the M3 engraving and a ‘Europameister 1988 auf BMW M3’ plaque in the centre console which was signed by one of the most successful touring car drivers, Roberto Ravaglia. On top of the special trinkets, Europameister models also feature beautiful 7.5x16-inch alloys and electric windows.
This addition of parts and the obvious rarity of the E30 M3 Europameister make this Bimmer an incredibly sought-after collector’s item. According to the seller’s description, he estimates that prices for these limited-edition cars are approximately $40k (£25k) higher than a standard M3; because only 148 of these cars were made, he’s probably bang on the money.
What makes this car more desirable still is its ultra-low mileage; only 17,274 miles have been covered. There is a small snag however - the car was accident-damaged after being hit on the passenger rear quarter panel. This has been ‘expertly repaired’ with original parts, but that will be a turn-off for potential buyers.
Either way, this M3 Europameister looks stunning (especially with its yellow-tinted front lights) and I want it very badly. Can I afford it? Hell no. Can we afford it if we all pitch in? I’ll let you guys decide…
But be quick, there are only a matter of hours remaining!
