The Porsche 911 Carrera S Just Got Even More Powerful

Porsche has revealed a load of new options for the current 991.2 911, including a kit which ups power by 30bhp

With each generation and even each facelift, the power levels from the Porsche 911 Carrera have been edging further and further north. It’s gotten to the point where the current ‘991.2’ Carrera S produces about the same power as the full-fat 911 Turbo from a couple of generations ago, and now, it’s been given another boost.

It’s all part of a range of new options Porsche has added to the 911 range. This includes new colours and upgraded connectivity, but - obviously - the extra poke is of greatest interest to us.

An extra 30bhp can be added via a kit which includes larger turbochargers, modified brake cooling, a sports exhaust and the Sport Chrono pack with dynamic engine mounts. It’ll boost the 3.0-litre flat-six to 444bhp.

The Porsche 911 Carrera S Just Got Even More Powerful

So, with the same power and a Sport Chrono pack, it’ll make your Carrera S a GTS (above) in pretty much all but name. The trouble is, it might make it as expensive as a GTS, depending on how the UK pricing works out. It’s listed as €10,139 (£8750), which would push the price of a Carrera S to around €3000 under a GTS in Germany, but in the UK the price difference between the S and the GTS is slimmer.

So you might well be better off going for the GTS with its fancy styling tweaks, but it’s worth noting that from June this year, you can have the kit retrofitted to any 991.2 Carrera S already fitted with Sport Chrono (price TBC).

The problem with 911 lineup is that they all look-alike & I don’t know whether I should feel sad or dumbass. :/

It’s kind of a pointless addition if you ask me, just get the GTS.

Agreed, it comes with a lot more options as standard and will retain it’s value much better.

Meanwhile my 2007 Ibiza FR got 50 more hp by only connecting it to a laptop.

Every watercooled generation has that package available, the x51 package.
997 made 400hp with it, 991 made 420hp with it, and 991.2 444hp.

As you said, it was never worth it because it puts it at the same price as the GTS, without all the other GTS stuff.
