Porsche Dragged Into Dieselgate As New Cayenne Allegations Surface
It doesn’t look like the dieselgate mess is going to be cleared up any time soon, as Porsche has now been dragged into the argument.
With Audi recently having been collared over allegations of steering angle-based emissions defeat devices, Germany’s Ministry of Transport has now ordered an investigation into the Cayenne V6 diesel.
Major national newspaper Der Spiegel has reported that its own test suggests the model’s nitric oxide emissions break the legal limit, but Porsche says its own tests disagree, calling the newspaper’s findings ‘implausible’. It’s all a bit he-said-she-said, hence the official investigation.
In a statement the Stuttgart-based firm said:
“Der Spiegel has conducted joint tests with TUV Nord on a Porsche Cayenne V6 TDI (Euro 6) and has reported on its findings in its latest edition. Porsche has obtained extracts of these results and considers them to be implausible.
“As a result of the Der Spiegel test, Porsche has conducted tests on a comparable Cayenne V6 TDI (Euro 6). The tests found that the vehicle was compliant with the legally stipulated nitric oxide limit values. Furthermore, Porsche has offered to conduct joint tests, but Der Spiegel has not accepted this offer.
“Porsche cooperates fully with the authorities. We also liaise with the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) on all current issues.
“As the regulatory emissions authority responsible for the homologation of our vehicles, the KBA confirmed to us that the EU6-certified Cayenne V6 TDI vehicle model referenced by Der Spiegel is compliant with regulations. We provided the KBA with the information regarding the functions of the Cayenne V6 TDI that relate to emissions certification and will continue to take this approach.”

Seems more like a news company wants to make headlines. Why would the newspaper decline doing joint tests with porshe?
Quelle surprise…
I think you’ll struggle to find a car brand that isn’t cheating
Tesla?
Bmw
Ah hahaha serves ze Germans right for making a diesel Porsche and being sneaky bar stewards
Who buys a diesel Porsche anyway… 😂
About 90% of Porsches that aren’t 911’s in Spain are diesel, people here apparently like to buy those Cayennes, Panameras and Macans for the shake of apparenting having a lot of money…
Loads of people do in the Netherlands. Most Cayenne’s, Panamera’s and Macan’s are either diesels or E-Hybrids here.
How is that even news anymore tho ? Isn’t virtually every carmaker forced to cheat (at least concerning the unrealistic EU-regulations) ?
Some cars do pass in real-world driving, including all Toyota hybrids, Suzuki Ignis SHVS mild hybrid, BMW 118d, BMW 520d, Opel Zafira 2.0CDTI, Mercedes E220d, latest Golf 1.5 TSI ACT [ADAC ecotests] . Petrol direct injection cars emit excessive particles, even the new Ioniq and Niro hybrids. Automakers know how to reduce emissions. Unfortunately many have chosen to ignore regulations intended to protect public health. Throw the book at the scofflaws!
