Prepare Yourselves For The Ferrari F12 Speciale: 200kg Weight Reduction And 760bhp

Prepare Yourselves For The Ferrari F12 Speciale: 200kg Weight Reduction And 760bhp

The F12 is a pretty damn significant Ferrari. Why? With the 488 and California using turbochargers and future V12 cars from Maranello expected to sport similar hybrid powertrains to the LaFerrari, the F12 (pictured above) will go down as one of the last conventional, naturally-aspirated cars built by Ferrari. And that makes the incoming ultimate version of the car - the Ferrari F12 Speciale - rather, erm, speciale.

Yep, this front-engined V12 beast is spawning a lightweight special, and the details will make you liberally shower your keyboard with drool. According to Autocar, the Speciale will shed up to 200kg (about the same as three light-ish humans) in bulk. No one is sure how just yet, but we can expect the Speciale’s interior to be much less luxurious than the standard model, and some of the body panels switched for lighter items.

If the significant weight reduction wasn’t already enough, Autocar also understands that the car will be even more powerful. With an extra 30bhp on tap, the 6.2-litre V12 will be good for 760bhp. Bearing in mind the weight figure will be closer to the 1400kg mark, the F12 Speciale will crack 0-62mph in around three seconds.

Judging by the 458 Speciale, we can also anticipate a more intricate aero package, and a hefty increase over the regular F12’s £240,000 price tag. We’re pricing up our spare organs already…
