The Lotus Esprit SE used in the film Pretty Woman is now for sale through Hemmings. In the movie, where Richard Gere plays a well-to-do banker who inexplicably falls in love with a prostitute (played by Julia Roberts!), the Lotus really only plays a small role - but will forever be remembered as "that fast car from Pretty Woman!!"
If you're ready for that kind of responsibility, this particular Esprit doesn't promise the best value per se, but it appears to be in great shape. It is for sale as a 1990 model, even though it's registered and titled as a 1989, but let's not split hairs. It was one of 324 Esprit SE's imported into the US in 1989 - the first Esprit to receive the upgraded version of the 2.2L 16v I4 that used to power Lotus' wedge-shaped supercar. Churning out 264 rather rough horsepower, the Esprit SE can reach 100km/h in under 5 seconds and power on to a top speed of 165 miles per hour. The car is in great shape, with only 23,000 miles on the odometer.
The movie-star inflated price of $54,998 is considerably higher than market value for a 1989 Esprit Turbo, but the car does come with documentation from Lotus stating that it was the car used in the movie. Something to show off to your friends, I suppose. If you're interested, you can check out the details here.
