£8 Million Buys You Mr Bean's Twice-Crashed McLaren F1
Legendary actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson and his McLaren F1 share a rather colourful history. He’s owned it for 17 years - from new - and in that time it’s covered 41,000 miles (rather a lot for an exotic supercar), and been crashed twice. Rather heavily. But, his ownership is coming to an end, as according to Western Motoring News, it’s being sold by specialist London dealer Taylor & Crawley for a staggering £8 Million. Suddenly, that £910,000 repair bill for its 2011 crash seems like a jolly good investment.
The other unfortunate moment for chassis number 61 of 64 came in 1999, when the Blackadder and Mr Bean star ploughed the car into the back of a Rover Metro. But, worry not, after this and the 2011 incident the car was fastidiously repaired and rebuilt by McLaren in Woking, and they have a habit of doing things properly.
F1s are powered by a 6.1-litre BMW V12 producing 621bhp, which can send the lightweight McLaren from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, on to a top speed of 240mph.
