The R200 Non-Fiction Is An Audi R8 Turned Into A Skoda

Believe it or not, what you see here is actually a first-generation Audi R8 in 4.2-litre V8 flavour. At least, that’s what it started out as. Intended as a tribute for the Skoda 130 RS rally car (below) for its 40th anniversary, this car features a whole new body inspired by the old rear-engined vehicle. It’s a fully working car, too, and its makers - Metal Hoffmann - are talking about putting it into (limited) production.

The car’s a bit of a mish-mash of parts and styling ideas - we’re pretty sure those are Bentley Mulsanne headlights at the front, and Lamborghini Gallardo light clusters at the back - and not everyone will be a fan of the looks, but it’s undeniably intriguing.

There’s no word on performance, but it’s likely that the 4.2-litre, mid-mounted V8 is unchanged, which means 423bhp sent to all four wheels, and a 0-62mph time of around 4.6 seconds. Also, if you take a look at the interior shot below, you’ll see it’s been based on a manual R8, rather than an auto. Good.

Want one? The R200 is due to go into production in January 2016 with a starting price of €255,000 (£182,000).
