The Renault Megane RS Is Even Cheaper Than A Hyundai i30 N Performance
When we were out testing the all-new Megane RS in Spain, the car was tipped to cost around £29,000. That’s a good deal, right? Especially considering that a Honda Civic Type R is £2500 more. Well, it turns out the hot Megane is even cheaper than that.
The car goes on sale today in the UK for £27,495 on the road, and if you order one in May, Renault will throw in the Cup chassis package for free. That includes a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential, stiffer springs, dampers and a firmer anti-roll bar, plus some red paint for the brake calipers which must add at least 5bhp.
The very attractive opening price puts the RS £500 under the Hyundai i30 N in Performance specification, and although the Renault doesn’t have quite the same level of equipment fitted as standard, that seems like one hell of a good price. It’s over £4000 less than a Civic Type R too.
With 276bhp from its 1.8-litre turbocharged inline-four it isn’t quite as potent as the the Honda, but we dig the way it favours agility over outright firepower. It’s also available with something neither the Type R nor the i30 N have on their options list: a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Tick that box, at you’re looking at a £29,195 starting price.
After May, the Cup chassis will be priced at £1500. Other options include 19-inch wheels at £950, a because racecar Alantara steering wheel for £250, a £400 reversing camera and beefier ‘bi-material’ Brembo brakes for £900.
First UK deliveries kick off this July.

I really like this car. When you look at it, you know it’s a sporty car, but not as overstyled as the Civic Type R. It really is one if the best-looking hatchbacks on the market right now.

You know this car is designed for car guys when they offer you a free chassis set up, not “free 3 year servicing” or “free luggage set”
I’d rather get free servicing for three years if I’d buy such a car, when your commute is 150 km/day you don’t care if it has a free LSD: you just don’t want to become your garagist’s best friend. Three years of servicing for free is worth a lot more than 1.5k.

It is incredibly good deal this thing, order it now to get Cup chassis for free and throw on 19” wheels for the looks and off you go, It is significantly cheaper then Hyundai over here, about 3k €, with less equipment but who cares.

You know Hyundai has made a big impression when right out of the gate, Renault had to give you free bits (albeit for a limited time) to make itself the better proposition.
