A Rider Has Lost His Life In A Tragic Pikes Peak Crash

Last weekend’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb was marred by tragedy when 54-year-old motorbike rider Bobby Goodin lost his life in a horrific crash. The accident actually occurred just after the finish line. It’s been reported that Goodin lost control of his Triumph Daytona 675R on the gravel parking area at the top of the famous hill climb, causing him to be thrown clear of the bike and over the edge, landing on a series of boulders.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene and airlifted to the nearby Penrose Main Hospital, but sadly succumbed to his injuries. It’s the first fatality at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb since 2005.

To give you an idea of the skill it takes to get up this daunting hill climb on a bike, take a look at Greg Tracey’s sub-10min run from 2012 below.
