RIP Andrew Lee, The Awesome Guy Who Fought Terminal Cancer With His LW GT-R

After years kicking cancer's ass and raising awareness and funds to help end the disease, Andrew Lee lost his battle

A few years ago in 2016, the CT crew and I were fortunate enough to meet Andrew Lee at SEMA. He, and his family, were standing next to his astonishing Liberty Walk Nissan GT-R, and as we walked up to him to introduce ourselves, he smiled a smile that instantly told us: ‘this is a good guy’… you get a feeling sometimes.

Andrew and his dad told us the story behind the car, how Andrew had been diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2015 and how he wasn’t going to go down without a fight. And that’s where Driven To Cure came in, whose mission it is to “Help raise awareness and provide funding for the research of rare kidney cancers like HLRCC in children and young adults.”

After chatting for a good hour with Andrew, he was excited to shoot a Readers’ Rides video with us the following day; not only was Andrew’s GT-R one of the most astonishing cars we’d ever seen (with arguably the greatest number plate on any car - F CANCR), we wanted to help spread Andrew’s message, the result of which many of you will have seen in the video above.

After almost four years of kicking cancer’s ass, however, Andrew died on Easter Sunday evening surrounded by his family and friends.

The entire car community has lost a real legend, but despite his short life, he achieved more than most of us could ever dream of. So it’s important to celebrate the good he did, and continues to do, through his charity Driven To Cure. So please take a few minutes to check it out and spread Andrew’s word. Because F CANCR.

Race in peace, Andrew!

And so are you. I find it very hard to believe that you are this soulless and cold. You disrespected him and you got a bunch of people hating you. Learn to respect him and stop making jokes about it or get the f* outta here. Loser

Rest In Peace to one of the car community’s best people. He will be missed by everyone who had a chance to meet him, even if they didn’t meet him I’m sure the people who helped support him will miss him
