Ruf Has Developed An All-New Car Not Based On A Porsche And We Don't Know How To Feel
Everyone’s favourite video game Porsche substitute, Ruf, is about to reveal its very first completely in-house car at the Geneva Motor Show.
Unlike all the models it has previously based on Porsches, this one is brand spanking new Ruf product from the ground up.
We don’t have any pictures of it yet, but it will ‘take inspiration’ from Ruf’s own 911-based 1987 CTR Yellowbird (pictured below), which even 20 years ago could hit 210mph. It will have a unique carbonfibre structure and should be fast.
The latest 911-based car produced by Ruf, the CTR 3, looked pretty mean and stomped its way up to 236mph, so we’re expecting something similar, if not slightly faster, from the in-house beast. There’s no word on drivetrain style yet, but the engine is reportedly a new project as well. It sounds a little far-fetched, to us, but we’ll wait and see.
This year’s Geneva show seems to be coming up with the goods, anyway. There’s plenty more to come over the next few days.

No wonder they stopped using 911’s because the police were after them.
Always loved RUF and I personally cant wait to see this thing.
why would you not know how to feel about it, this is awesome
Why is this “new”? it’s been on project cars years ago😯😯😯😯
The photo doesn’t show the new car… it’s just to illustrate the post.
Gee, at the rate of speed these cars go at in comparison to their manufacture date, this car should go like, 600mph
I’m kinda happy they’re making a separate car but also sad because they should’ve made a car based on the 918
I’d like to see a Cayman GT4-based Ruf.
The ctr3 is RUF’s own development, it does use porsche parts, but it uses their own platform. It is not 911 based.
Isn’t this just the new Porsche Carrera GT?
This is from RUF Automobile’s FB page. This is the “non-Porsche” RUF they’re talking about. Everything is bespoke, from chassis to engine. They made this to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the CTR. The only Porsche part you’re seeing is the body.
did they just copy and paste a 10 year old article on the CTR3, which started being sold in 2007?
ct wut have you been smoking
