Peugeot has revealed a TCR-spec 308 GTI, which packs 342bhp and some serious aero
Say Hello To The Anger-Spec Peugeot 308 TCR Racing Car

Want to see what a Peugeot 308 GTI looks like when it’s really, really pissed off? Here you go. It’s the 308 TCR, derived from the existing 308 Racing Cup and ready to further diversify the already varied fields found in TCR-regulation championships around the world.

Like the road car, it’s powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four. Only here, Peugeot Sport has managed to squeeze out 345bhp and 310lb ft of torque. The heavily-boosted four-pot puts its power to the front wheels exclusively via a six-speed sequential gearbox, which is stronger than the one you’ll find the the Racing Cup.

As is made abundantly clear in these images, the track of the 308 TCR is significantly wider than the road car’s. On the suspension menu you’ll also find adjustable anti-roll bars front and back, an adjustable ride height, and adjustable camber.

The wheel arches have been widened significantly to accommodate the track increase, while at the front you’ll find a new front bumper designed to aid airflow to the radiator and intercooler, plus a big splitter. At the back there’s a new diffuser, and - of course - a giant wing.

Braking is taken care of by 378mm discs at the front squeezed by six-piston callipers, while at the back 270mm rotors are paired with two-piston callipers.

Tempted? It’s on sale now for €109 000, with the first cars being delivered April 2018. Doesn’t sound so bad for a 345bhp touring car, but it’s worth bearing in mind a full season of TCR can cost anything up to €450,000. And in the racing world that’s considered affordable…

Would be great if they dressed it in the old green & gold Ultron livery they ran on their 406s in the 90s!

The price says €109 000 for a Peugeot 308 TCR Racing Car?

I’d rather buy a Peugeot 205 GTi and upgrade it for €60 000.

Your honestly lucky to find one in immaculate condition and they’re worth £30,000+ or €33,705.05+ in your currency. The prices would be about the same in the end.

But it’s a French car so it will show up to the track tipsy and then start a revolution.
