Say Hello To The Lightly Refreshed Nissan 370Z

Say Hello To The Lightly Refreshed Nissan 370Z

Amid all the rumours flying around that the next Nissan Z car being something terribly disappointing like a sporty crossover, it’s easy to forget that the venerable 370Z is still kicking around. We first saw it nearly ten years ago, but the ageing coupe is set to stick around for a little while longer, courtesy of a few tweaks to freshen up proceedings.

We’re not talking about anything major: the 2018 model year will gain new 19-inch wheels, a new “Red Metallic” colour option, plus black door handles, black trim bumper trim and smoked front and rear light clusters borrowed from the 370Z Nismo. And not much else.

The 3.7-litre engine remains unchanged, with the 3.7-litre lump still putting out 324bhp to the rear wheels. Nissan has fitted an Exedy high-performance clutch though, which the firm says “reduces driver pedal effort and delivers even greater levels of gear change precision and comfort.”

Want one? It’s on sale now, and will set you back £29,185 on the road. Or if you want something more potent, the - unchanged - Nismo version is still available.

Nissan needs to refresh their performance car lineup soon. The R36 and Z35 are well past due. The Z34 is a great car but they need something new

I gotta say, looks pretty nice… But we’re not skipping over the fact that the cars almost a decade old and needs s refresher. I know that this is a timeless design but, we really need something new! Unless its an SUV

It has occurred to me that Nissan’s R&D department has become really sluggish recently (can’t really find a better word).Apart from the 370Z which is way past due of a total refresh, we have the Sentra and Altima which are two of the most uninspiring vehicle in its class, Pathfinder which can not stand up against Highlander, Explorer or Pilot, Quest which is just atrocious, and Armada which Nissan lift the six years old Patrol from Middle East, drop it in US and call it a brand new vehicle. Sometime you just look at their lineup and think what the heck are they doing.

Well, at least Nissan put in more effort than BMW usually does.

It’s still pretty dated though.

R35 GT-R is more dated though, and I’d rather VQ37VHL over VR38DETT.

In fact, I’d rather RB26DETT all day long.
