Say Hello To Our Skoda Octavia vRS Longtermer: What Do You Want To See?
It’s all change for TeamCT’s longtermer fleet, with a teary goodbye recently said to our Seat Ibiza FR, Suzuki Swift Sport and Peugeot RCZ R, and the arrival of some older metal in the form of Adnan’s new E46 BMW M3 and Alex’s Mazda MX-5. But we’ll still have some new cars on long-term tests this spring and summer, kicking off with this Skoda Octavia vRS.
It’s the 217bhp, 258lb ft 2.0-litre TSI petrol. Underneath that saloon-like hatchback body is the same MQB chassis and engine as the Golf GTI, but with prices starting at £24,100, it’s a few grand cheaper than the VW. It’ll do 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds, and top out at 154mph.
We’ve gone for the £25,490 DSG dual-clutch auto, and for a very specific reason: we love our hot hatches with manual gearboxes, so can a few months with the DSG convince us that there is another way? As well as attempting to answer gearbox quandaries, the vRS will also be sent on road trips, be used as an occasional crew car and be slung into a group test or two.
But, we also want to know what you’d like to see us do with it. So, if you have a suggestion, or if there’s something you’d like to know about this car, let us know in the comments!
