The Seat Ibiza Cupster Is An Open Top Concept We Hope Isn't Made

If you've never heard of it, every year there's a huge show for VW fans in Wörthersee, Austria. It's such a big deal that Volkswagen and its various sub brands usually bring along a concept or two, often created especially for the event. Last week Audi unveiled its effort in the form of the A3 Clubsport, and now Seat has unveiled its Wörthersee show car: the regrettably named Ibiza Cupster.

It's based on the standard Ibiza Cupra, and has the same 178bhp 1.4-litre engine with a DSG dual-clutch gearbox powering the front wheels. Unlike the standard Cupra, though, it has no roof. Instead, it has a wraparound window, which unless you're relatively short, looks like it won't be enough to shield your precious face from the elements. And despite being quite long, it's actually only a two-seater. All these changes result in an odd-looking car: it's a bit like someone's driven a standard Cupra under a very low bridge at high speed.

With a silly name and some peculiar design ideas, we won't exactly be disappointed if this doesn't go into production. Thankfully, Seat hasn't divulged any plans to do so.
