Still not sure what’s going on? Let us take you through it. VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. In essence, it allows an engine to have two camshaft profiles. A shorter profile is operated at lower RPM to give better efficiency, but when higher engine speeds are reached, oil pressure forces a pin to lock the two lower RPM cam followers to the third, higher RPM follower This allows for a much taller profile, letting in more fuel and air.
