Senna's Legacy - The NSX
I would agree with anyone that F1 peaked in the 90’s, and the pinnacle of that was Ayrton Senna.
It may even have been the day he died in 1994 at the San Marino Grand Prix that F1 started it’s decline. I was watching, like millions of other people, the end of a life and the end of an era.
The fear and then the tears though; they were for Senna.
The NSX was developed by Honda with Senna, and his insistence on work with the chassis and suspension is most likely why it became one of the legendary drivers cars.
The filmmaker chose the Nurburgring, where Senna did some of his testing on the original NSX, as the basis for this evocative montage and soundtrack tribute to late race car driver.
Prepare for a lump in your throat then…
Turn the volume up and hit play.

Great post!
how do you made it to editor pick, when my article didn’t :(
I don’t know what the editorial policy actually is.
Man, I wasn’t even born when he died but I still feel like I lost something in my heart when I watched his crash that fateful day. Well, here’s to hoping I see him in heaven as a fellow believer in Jesus :,)
I feel you. I was born in ‘93 and F1 isn’t even my favourite motorsport, but Senna was something else. I found myself cheering for him when watching the documentary of his life, so silly, then there’s the accident… He didn’t deserve ending like that.
I was born in 1992 and I’m watched Senna racing for 2 years only. And that TG tribute to Ayrton Senna was the great start if you want to know why Senna’s is the ultimate drivers.
There is a movie about him
Feelings kicked in yo……
I was in my dad’s 1980s Dodge 1500 wagon, coming back from a brief holiday in the beach with some friends. I was 9, and I remember the face my dad made. I remember his look when he told me “Ayrton died. He crashed on San Marino”. We listened to the radio all the way back, it was late at night and my brother and my mom were sleeping, and my dad and I listening to the radio. “Can’t be, how this happened?” I remember him saying… What a legend Senna was, and he was from Latin America, the region was allways really proud of its son.
Please, someone comment on this so I can see the video when I’m off work, there’s no “remind me” button
