Sneaky Dodge Dealers Are Still Profiteering Off Demon Sales Despite The Company's Warnings

We know that in a capitalist society everything has a value dictated by supply and demand, but sometimes, like with Dodge dealers' cunning new way to make more money out of Demon buyers, it leaves a bad taste
Sneaky Dodge Dealers Are Still Profiteering Off Demon Sales Despite The Company's Warnings

Despite Dodge’s best efforts to stop dealers marking up the price of brand new Challenger SRT Demons, it seems some money-grabbers have found a new way to make a mint on top of the sticker price.

Previously, Dodge had told dealers that if they didn’t agree to sell the cars at the sticker price, their allocations would be delayed. It was a simple way to ensure they toed the line, but by using friends close to the business, some dealers have found a new way to profiteer.

Essentially, while dealerships are now agreeing with Dodge to sell the highly sought-after cars for no more than the retail price of $86,090, they’re simply asking ‘outside associates’ to auction the rights to individual cars on eBay and other marketplace sites.

The dealership sticks to its word and only takes the sticker price from the customer, but the friendly intermediary pockets a small fortune – tens of thousands of dollars, in fact, which we’d assume are being shared with the dealerships. One dealer who owned up said the difference over the list price would be given to charity.

Depending on your point of view this is either impressively enterprising – especially if charities benefit, or it’s the kind of thing the ‘offenders’ should be locked up for. There’s nothing Dodge can really do about it, we understand – except increasing production volumes and shortening wait times.

One dealer may have given the extra money to charity, but I bet most dealers will keep the extra profit for themselves

They all probably will. Honda tried this with the CTR but dealers are still selling them 45k+ because there is a clause they can sell it for extra given the extra goes to charity. A lot of these dealerships have a given amount they give to charity each year as a tax write off. So as with the Honda dealerships, I bet dodges are doing the same saying it goes into their (normal) charity fund meaning they don’t have to put profits into it later down the year.

Dodge should sell special models directly like tesla. Ford should too.

Sadly, most states’ legislation dictates that companies use dealerships (dealership lobby made sure of that). Tesla is really pushing the boundaries trying to change that.
