This Autodelta-tuned GT has an enlarged 3.7-litre V6 plus a supercharger conversion, pushing the power output close to 400bhp

I spend a worrying amount of time looking up V6-engined Alfa Romeos in the classifieds. Because of this Busso-based affliction, if something unusual comes up, I spot it right away, then spend the next few days drooling incessantly.

That’s why I ended stumbling upon a 3.0-litre-converted 156 a few weeks ago (it’s still for sale at a reduced price, by the way), and when perusing V6-powered GT coupes at the weekend, I noticed there was something listed under the 3.5-litre + category. It turned out to be exactly what I had hoped: an Autodelta-tuned beast with its 3.2-litre six-banger enlarged by 500cc.

London-based Autodelta - which shares its name with Alfa Romeo’s old motorsport arm - was offering 3.7-litre conversions on fast Alfas long before the Giulia Quadrifoglio made itself known to the world, but this one goes one step further. Because it’s packing a supercharger.

Specifically, it’s had a Rotrex C38-81 centrifugal supercharger fitted. This, along with the enlarged engine, larger fuel injectors and a full exhaust system bumps the original power output of 246bhp all the way up to 380. 0-60mph - the seller claims - is dealt with in just 4.9 seconds.

The seller also notes that there are additional “chassis, transmission and aerodynamic components” that have been added to the car. We rather hope that includes a limited-slip differential, but even with one, 380bhp is a lot of poke for the front wheels to cope with.

Sadly, none of this comes cheap. While a standard 3.2-litre GT will set you back anything from £5000 an up, this one is being sold for £15,475.

Tempted?

Better buff out your tire budget you wanna run this thing. 380 hp on a quite sloppy FWD chassis is madness. The 147 GTA couldn’t even handle 250 hp for instance.

But just think of the noise that 3.7 V6 will make while you’re annihilating the front tyres off the line ;)

As long as it still sounds like a Busso, I’d be over the moon with a 380 hp front wheel drive Alfa…or maybe I’ll just get huge muscles from correcting torque steer

It has a centrifugal supercharger? Stop whining, it doesn’t suck that much. I’m getting really tyred of all the understeer jokes, they’re driving me round the bend
