Soon Your iPhone Won't Work While You're Driving
Apple is about to get involved with your life every time you get behind the wheel. Specifically, the company is trying to save it.
When the company releases iOS 11, users will find a new feature prompting them to activate a ‘do not disturb while driving’ mode, which will prevent any notifications appearing at all. The idea is to take away the temptation for we young ‘uns to look at our smartphones while we’re driving. To be fair, it really is a daft thing to do and it does cost lives.
If the phone owner ‘forgets’ to turn it on, the phone can guess when it’s in a moving vehicle anyway, thanks to its motion sensors, GPS and WiFi systems. Trying to ‘unlock’ the phone will be purposely difficult to do while driving, but easy if you’re an innocent passenger.
The system won’t stop you pre-connecting the phone via Bluetooth or USB, allowing you to access some of the device’s functions legally through the car.
The software can also ping a simple reply to anyone who messages the driver’s phone while they’re behind the wheel. Something along the lines of an automated “I’m driving right now and will get back to you when I get where I’m going” is thought to be the gist of it. A similar Android app to perform the same job already exists.
Developers are even working on software to sell to companies, who would then force their staff to use it. What’s your take on this? Should phone makers be taking steps to stop people using their phones while driving, and will people simply activate any override they can, no matter the danger?

Somebody introduces something: Cool to see them be innovative
Apple introduces something: BASH THEIR FCKING HEADS IN, APPLE SUCKS AND I’M GONNA LET EVERYBODY KNOW ABOUT IT!!1!
Seriously though, this just goes to show that people are sheep and love to hate
Not really, its just that Apple is the exact opposite of innovative and practical. Removing headphone jacks so the phone is 2mm thinner (who cares about 2 mm?) Copying android features (copying google map features, widgets, etc) and on their macs, removing USB ports!
lol🔥
This is brilliant!
So… will this shut down gps functionality? Do I need to go purchase s Garmin and pretend like is 2002?
GPS is not affected - neither is music
I have a samsung nor do i text and drive
This is a good idea i always mute my phone when driving. Not guna amswer it anyways so i dont need to know.
They will invent “ Airplane mode”?
No it doesn’t turn off connectivity. Just turns off notifications.
FINALLY
When you see someone driving like a dumbass on the road, he’s most likely texting & driving at the same time so that’ll solve the problem
This will make it worse. “Trying to ‘unlock’ the phone will be purposely difficult to do while driving” That’s exactly what it says. You think that will stop people from texting just cause it’s harder? They will take both hands off the wheel and stare at their phones. The only fix is to have all texting voice commanded. Where you don’t even have to touch your phone and just speak to Siri and have her auto send when you say send.
I guess android might get or create something like this in the future, if it proves successful.
“android” it’s like saying hope windows will create smthing
Surely you can. I’m not doing it, but if you’re not accelerating you can use your right hand to hold the phone 😬
Yeah you can easily going down the highway
Funny but so not true. I have been driving standard all my life. And while I am against texting & driving I know I have been guilty of it a couple times. You’re only shifting to get up to speed. Stay in gear and your other hand is free. But yes nobody should text & drive.
But for real. It’s a good idea.
manuals don’t actually work, the stick shift teens take their texting hand off the steering wheel instead.

a manual never stopped anybody from texting im in 5th 90% of the time with 2 free hands
