Speed Saturday: 300kph Ferrari F12 Autobahn Blast

If three is the magic number, then 300 must be something supernatural. However, when you have a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and a heavy right foot, it's a perfectly achievable target.

This German Fezza gets the chance to fight its way through dawdling traffic on the hallowed Autobahn, filling the mirrors of terrified Peugeots as it pushes towards its target speed. As commuters pull in to allow the Prancing Horse by, the deep growl of the engine under acceleration dominates everything.

The F12 is powered by a 6.3-litre V12 that produces 730bhp, so it's perhaps no surprise that it reaches 300kph (186mph) with such ease. With less traffic and a straighter road, the big, white berlinetta will top out at 340kph (211mph).

As a side note, we'd like to point out that the passenger-side speedo is one of the coolest features we've seen on a car for a long time. It debuted in the FF, displaying speed, revs and current gear by default. With the touch of a button other information such as trip information and suspension settings can also be displayed. The only down side is that now your other half will know how fast you're really going...

This is the car that Jeremy Clarkson famously said has too much power, as this grandad found out rather expensively. On the other hand, if you're drift monster Chris Harris, it's easily tamed...
