Spoiler Alert: Audi Sport Performance Parts Make The TT And R8 Even Less Subtle

If you love Audi's performance coupes but feel like they're missing race car looks, Audi Performance Parts has got you covered.
Spoiler Alert: Audi Sport Performance Parts Make The TT And R8 Even Less Subtle

It’s difficult to imagine what goes through the head of someone who looks at an Audi R8 or TT RS and thinks it’s a bit boring. After all, these are high performance machines, each capable of hitting 62mph in under four seconds.

Luckily for them though, Audi Sport has come out with a new range of bits and bobs to not only glam up the outside, but scrape a little bit more performance out. Since obviously they need to go even faster.

Dubbed ‘Audi Sport Performance Parts’, these extras are available to spruce up your R8 or TT models inside, outside and in the greasy bits too.

The most obvious bits are on the outside. New aero kits, developed in Audi’s wind tunnel, add some carbon-fibre goodies. A front splitter, canards on the front corners and a hoofing great wing are available on both cars and aren’t just for show. Together they double the R8’s downforce at 90mph, and add more than 1000N - equivalent to 100kg - at 200mph compared to the existing aero.

The kits also add contrasting highlights on the front air inlets, side sills and the diffuser.

Under the car you’ll find new sport brake lines and brake cooling kits. The brake carriers on the R8 are made from titanium, shaving off a whole kilogram from the car’s fighting weight.

Audi Sport also makes two- and three-way coilover suspension available for both cars. Milled, black, 20-inch wheels are an option for both too, with sport tyres, saving around 8kg on both models.

TT coupe models with quattro four-wheel drive also benefit from a new carbon-fibre brace bar on the rear axle. This replaces the rear seats and eats into a fair chunk of the TT’s boot space, but improves rigidity and saves around 20kg.

On the inside you’ll also be able to specify an Alcantara-trimmed, multifunction sports steering wheel, with a red dead-ahead marker. The seven-speed S-tronic auto ‘box will have carbon-fibre shift paddles available too.

There’s also a titanium exhaust backbox and pipe, designed by Akrapovic, to add a little audio accompaniment.

The Audi Sport Performance Parts range is available to retrofit to your existing road cars and will be on sale in Audi dealers from later in the summer. The initial launch is “in Germany and other markets,” but there’s no word yet on pricing.
