Start Saving: The Savage New Mercedes C63 Will Set You Back £60k And Up
When we announced the reveal of the new Mercedes C63 AMG last month, we knew the fight was on between it and the latest incarnation of the BMW M3. Today, we can confirm the full pricing for Affalterbach’s latest bruiser.
The base model C63 AMG Saloon comes in at £59,795, a little over what you’d pay for an M3 with an automatic gearbox: £58,675. For a smidge under £60k, your C63 will get the base level of tune with an output of 469bhp and 479lb ft from a 4.0-litre litre engine. You also get AMG sports seats and COMAND control system and a locking rear differential as standard. You’ll need an extra £1200 on top for the Estate version.
If nearly 470bhp isn’t enough for you, then you can go for the top-of-the-range ‘S’ model, which produces a not inconsiderable 503bhp and 516lb ft. This allows the C63 S to go from 0-62mph in four seconds, on to an electronically-restrained 155mph top speed, the latter matching the standard model.
As in the standard C63, all of this rage is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed ‘Powershift’ automatic geabox. The S also features an electronically-controlled differential alongside a new braking system with 390 mm discs at the front and 360 mm at the rear. The eagle-eyed among you will spot the red callipers of the new brake system. The S model is priced at a hefty £66,545 and £67,745 for the saloon and estate, respectively.
Mercedes is also going to offer an ‘Edition 1’ version of the C63 S (see images above and below), which comes with subtle graphics running along the sides of the car and red highlights in both the grille and mirror housings. It also has unique 19-inch forged alloys, with a distinctive red band running around the edges of each.
On top of this, all the aluminium components of the Edition 1 are painted black in what Mercedes calls the ‘Night Pack,’ meaning it’ll look even stealthier. The Edition 1 does come in at a premium though, with prices at £73,500 for the Saloon and £74,700 for the Estate.
Delivery for the C63 begins in Spring 2015, so keep an eye out on the roads for them soon after.
