This Stunning 2JZ-Swapped BMW 2002 Drift Weapon Has Just Gone Up For Sale
This is no ordinary ‘73 2002. The exterior has had a thorough going over, with a chunky custom wide arch bodykit, while the stripped interior is home to nought but a pair of Sabelt bucket seats, full roll cage and custom Alcantara-clad dashboard.
But what’s most important is what’s under the bonnet. This car has been built with drifting in mind, and as such the presence of a 2JZ engine will be of little surprise - the car has had a number of different powerplants, including a V8, but in the search for reliability it was the 2JZ that won out.
The list of modifications is long: Holset HX40 Super turbo, Brian Crower stage 2 camshafts, Brian Crower valve springs, electric water pump, custom intake manifold, Zerial Modified custom exhaust manifold, Zerial Modified custom intercooler, Zerial Modified aluminum intake piping, custom exhaust 3.5″, 1400cc injectors, custom fuel rail, Vems engine management, and Cometic head gasket. All in, that lot is responsible for around 700bhp and 664lb ft of torque. Ballistic in a car that weighs just 1182kg.
The car’s underpinnings have also been completely reworked, with this 2002 running on E30 rear suspension and E36 front suspension. MX5 Tein Flex coilovers are fitted to the rear, while the front gets Bilstein coilovers. BMW Brembo 4-pot front calipers and Porsche 4-pot rear calipers help reign in all the madness.
