Infiniti has revealed the car that previews its next generation of styling cues. Previewed with a teaser last month, the Q Inspiration Concept is the basis for a whole new breed of Infinitis.

The Japanese premium brand is slowly creeping closer to where it needs to be if it wants to succeed in Europe, having already driven a thick wedge into the North American market. This looks to be another big step in the right direction.

Under the long bonnet is the 2.0-litre variable-compression turbocharged engine from the QX50, backed in this case by the same ProPilot semi-autonomous driving technology already put to use in the latest Nissan Leaf.

We’re not totally sure about the back end of the Q Inspiration, but the front is pretty spectacular. If Infiniti sticks close to this design when it next hits us with saloons and coupes, we can’t see it going far wrong.

It kinda looks like it’s struggling to see the road.

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this just is not a good looking car. Like most modern cars it’s just trying way too hard to look “futuristic” but it just ends up looking far too squinty eyed and gaping mouthed and, in a word, ugly. The back end’s not bad although the light bar’s a bit too slender for my personal preference. That’s another thing, why do manufacturer’s keep trying to make lights look nothing like lights. In short manufacturers need to stop with the massive grills and millions of vents and creases thats 90% of the time aren’t functional and stupid unnecessary details and start making simpler designs that actually look good rather than looking expensive.

Nissan and Infiniti has created more concept cars than an actual production cars lately. I can’t really see the point of it, their current products has already ageing..

What on Earth is with that rear end? So minimalist. There’s nothing going on. Feels a bit boring.

You can’t label a car a “luxury sports car” and then put a wimpy-ass turbo 4 or pathetic electric motor. Nothing sporty or exhlirating about that in a 3 ton boat.
