This Stunning Render Shows What A Volvo V90 Pickup Would Look Like

Earlier this year, Volvo released its two flagship models in the S90 and V90; a sumptuous executive saloon and a silky-smooth estate to take on the best from Germany. But despite the good-looking nature of the latest models from the Swedish automaker, this render shows the potential that a talented coachworker could inflict upon the latest Volvo chassis.

Taking inspiration from the Chevrolet El Camino, this render from X-Tomi Design takes the V90 Cross Country‘s long wheelbase but slices off the extended roof to form an achingly attractive Ute.

Although these kinds of renders never really make it into a physical form, a V90 pickup may be possible considering the extremely niche coachworks that exist around the world. Not too long ago, a Norwegian firm managed to concoct a hearse from an unsuspecting Tesla Model S, and don’t forget about BMW building its very own bespoke E30 M3 pickup for trailering around tools and parts around one of its factories!

Car companies will make one-off specials like this M3 once in a blue moon.

What combinations would you like to see from the coachworkers out there? Maybe a breadvan Mercedes-AMG GT? Or a Ferrari hatchback that isn’t a GTC4Lusso? Go crazy!

I may be swearing in church here, but I honestly don’t get the appeal of a ute/pickup truck. Unless you’re a carpenter or something of the like, you really don’t need that space, and personally, I don’t think they look all that nice either…

You do if you partake in most forms of action sports, or camping, or tow things, or have a large property you move things about on. There are infinite different lifestyles, and though yours may not require a truck, there are millions of them that do.

This really ticks me off… two online rendering firms just happen to have the same idea and use the same base picture to model a V90 Ute? Theophiluschin.com posted his on the 30th, so I don’t know who did it first… I like Theo’s better.
