Stunning Volvo Concept C Is The Hottest Swede Since Zlatan
Volvo has gone all cryptic on us, but it looks like something interesting is happening over at the Swedish firm.
Its marketing gurus have released a short teaser video starring, on the face of it, design chief Thomas Ingenlath, who uses his 22 seconds to tell us that Volvos are about to get a whole lot less ‘vanilla’. This is our first real introduction to the Concept C, following on from the bonnet-length teaser that was released anonymously last week, which until now nobody could identify or attribute to a company.
But at 11 seconds or so, something flashes across the screen. Slowing the vid down reveals several teaser images of the Concept C to add to the one from last week.
'Vanilla' nicely sums current Volvos up in the eyes of many consumers, by Ingenlath’s own admission. They’re nice; inoffensive but not especially desirable or iconic. It’s fair to say that the public’s opinion is reflected in the sales charts, where Volvo lags way behind the German premium car giants.
But the Concept C looks pretty intense by comparison. Bentley-esque rear haunches and a remarkably German front end look to give the C much more presence than the insipid S60.
Expect to see more of the Concept C at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, but with any luck Volvo will manage to keep it interesting and hold off telling us how safe and automated it’s going to be…
