Terribly-Named 'Aspark Owl' Claims Sub-2 Second 0-62mph Time
While it’s the major car brands that generally dominate the headlines at a major motor show like Frankfurt, the more obscure motors are always worth a look.
Take the Aspark Owl for instance. Competing with ‘Thunder Power’ (yes, that’s a real company) for the worst car name at Frankfurt this year, it’s an electric hypercar which - incredibly - is just 39 inches tall. Yep, an inch shorter than the spectacularly low-slung Ford GT40.
Under its carbonfibre skin you’ll find an electric drivetrain - the details of which haven’t yet been divulged - that’s good for 1000bhp. The Japanese firm behind the car is claiming a 0-62mph time of under two seconds.
Sounds ridiculous, but such a feat could well be possible if the car is light enough - we’ve seen the likes of Tesla and Rimac prove just what electric performance cars can be capable of, after all.
The more important question is whether or not the Owl is able to be more than poorly-named vapourware. You certainly get the feeling electric hypercars like these with big claims and dubious future prospects are going to become an increasingly common fixture at motor shows, but hey, we’d be happy to see the Owl prove us wrong and ruffle some feathers in the supercar world…

It has definitely sparked my interest.

Needless to say, i’m a little skeptical
It’s cool, but AssPark (a chair) owl?
I’ve to say, that car is actually quite gorgeous.
So 0-60 in under 2 seconds… on what tyres?
It doesn’t need tires, it goes directly to warp speed
What is an owl?
a kind of birb
Hoo-hoo-nigan
Aspark Owl, lol. Oh dear. Looks awesome, but man, a lot of these new ev start up companies really choose awful names.
On the plus side, it looks like a cross between an f1 and a laferrari, which is a good thing.
0-62mph in under two seconds… And that’s NOT the sound of Richard Hammond reaching for the car keys…
