Tesla Model 3 Reservations Now At 325,000, Giving '$14 Billion' Future Sales
With CEO Elon Musk stating last week that Model 3 reservations had already hit 276,000 just a few days after the car’s reveal, it was already clear that Tesla had well and truly smashed it. A week on however, and the full extent of the car’s early success has been revealed.
In a statement, Tesla announced that it has taken 325,000 deposits thus far, which amounts to “$14 billion in implied future sales”. To further hammer home the achievement, the company said that the Model 3 represents the “single biggest one-week launch of any product ever”, also pointing out that it did this without any advertising whatsoever.
It’s all looking good so far, but we’ll have to wait and see if the car measures up. So far we know that prices in the USA start at $35,000 before incentives, and even the slowest model will do 0-60mph in around six seconds. Rear and four-wheel drive versions will be available, and the range will be 215 miles and up depending on which one you go for. It’ll go into production early next year.

Where can i find proof of these numbers.Because right now, they seem so made up they might as well be printed on actual bullsh*t
They are a publically traded company, they cannot legally fix the books and have to post all financial statements open to the public for free. And besides you can easily find that info online..if you care to know.
No wonder, reading that last paragraph makes it sound like a freakin steal of a deal. And I’ve never wanted an electric vehicle aside from the 918 lol
The 918 is a hybrid though…
This scares me a lot as a petrolhead
To be honest I don’t think that there is anything to be worried about. Tesla I think (maybe also Koenigsegg)is the only truly innovative company at the moment. They are trying new things, risking and as you see the risk pays off.
Cheers,
A Tesla Fanboy :)
Be excited! with more electric cars on the roads. Emission standards will lax, Price of petrol (AT THE STATIONS) will fall, and improve the smog in big cities. Petrol cars wont die but I for one don’t want to be sitting in still traffic wasting and wearing down my petrol car when I could be doing that to the EV. Then bring out my petrol baby on the weekends on open roads :D
Am I the only one who doesn’t see why electric cars and internal combustion cars cant coexist? Let’s just have both.
Petrol lobby won’t like too many electric cars.
It’s the future dude. You can not stick with the outdated product when everybody have already upgraded to the new. It’s called evolution.
i’m all for performance oriented plug in hybrids. Like the golf GTE for instance.. 30miles all electric range for your commute, but you can just top it off with petrol if you want to do 2000 miles in a day. Same goes for the bmw 330e, very desireable car
When will we see a good jap competitor???
I need good reliability and Tesla’s is disgusting!😠
They are literally the only company producing cars like this, so of course they have some initial problems.
Tesla’s have great reliability though
And here is Mr. Musk proving that the automotive industry needs and welcomes breakthroughs. Slow clapping
I preordered one 2 minutes after it dropped. Hopefully the performance models won’t be too pricey!
It’ll take 4 years to fulfill a third of the orders at Tesla’s current pace with the Model X deliveries.
Hybrids are a nice touch too :) Even D-Hybrids.
