There's Just 0.3sec In This 911 GTS vs Corvette Grand Sport Track Battle
Sport Auto's Hockenheim lap battle between these very different sports cars from Porsche and Chevrolet yielded two incredibly similar times
While both are sports cars with roughly 450bhp to their name (444 for the Porsche, 453 for the Chevrolet) the 911 Carrera GTS and Corvette go about their business in very different ways. The German keeps a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo flat-six at the back, while the American has a rather shouty 6.2-litre V8 mounted at the front.
Despite the differences, they post remarkably similar times during this Hockenheim track battle from Sport Auto. We won’t spoil the result, but with just 0.3sec in it, this is a close one.
Who’s your money on?

It looks like he went of course a little more with the Vette. In anyway I’ll take the Vette over the overpriced bug
Regardless I think the Camaro should be put as a flagship car. Get rid of the Vette (back burner) or make a new car that sparks a new enthusiast. Honestly. The corvette isnt surprising anyone anymore.
The Camaro is no flagship…
You could say the same thing for Porsche. It’s looked the same forever. Some things become timeless- Corvette and Porsche body designs
Gotta go for the Corvette since this one reflects a similar color scheme as the C4 Grand Sport.

Corvette because of the available parts in the states and I just adore the purr of a v8.
Corvette will always have my vote. Not only because they are wonderful cars and surely brutal but also because there is something about America’s sports car that just captures the spirit of a performance car that German Precision can’t catch.
The money is on the gigantic price difference. The Porsche is the better car in every aspect. Perhaps the RWHP on a Porsche is 40HP more. The price difference of 30% makes Porsche not very competitive.
Sorry Porsche, but the vette just looks deadly in the cover photo.
If I lived in the US, I’d take the Vette (despite being a Porsche fanboy)
Its just too much value and is also a dying breed of na manual cars
But elsewhere, Porsche is a no-brainer
There is zero chance this is the base $66k Corvette, so stop pretending like it is. Starting with the fact that you cannot even order that wing as part of any performance package or stock upgrade from Chevy. When I put together a Corvette with the performance and interior upgrades which match the stock GTS - Paddle Shifters, Bucket Seats, Ceramic Brakes, Painted Calipers, Suspension, Wheels/Tires, the Corvette comes out to about $90K. And that’s without any thorough review of internal/trim/technology comparisons. Also, the Porsche people talking about reliability - the do not have a great track record, and they are insanely more complicated to work on. Final comment - Hockenheim is possibly the worst track you could compare these cars on. It has less corners than Road America.
