There’s Now A £134,000 Rally-Spec Alpine A110 And It’s Glorious
As if the lightweight and fizzy sports car goodness of the Alpine A110 wasn’t enough, the company has confirmed on set up for rallying.
The rear-wheel drive A110 Rally has been put together by Signatech based on Alpine’s own chassis but filled with the necessary modifications to meet FIA regulations. There are new Brembo brakes, three-way adjustable suspension, a roll cage and two Sabelt bucket seats with harnesses.
“More than 300bhp” is fed through a six-speed sequential gearbox and a limited-slip differential, but the basic 1.8-litre turbo four-pot is the same as the one we know, just angrier. It’s in the testing and setup stages now, ready for it to tear a path through rally courses worldwide – as long as Renault and Signatech are able to secure their target FIA R-GT homologation. Rivals in that class will include the likes of the Abarth 124.
Obviously, the interior is a little different to standard. The stripped cabin wears a paddle-equipped motorsport steering wheel, while out of sight are Bosch motorsport ABS and adjustable traction control gizmos. The fuel tank has been upgraded to a 65-litre FIA-approved cell.
It also happens to look an absolute treat in Alpine Blue with white wheels. That said, it’ll look even better once it’s covered with the filth of a world-class rally event. Bring it on!
