These Astonishing Beer Can Model Cars Will Render You Speechless

When you or I finish off a refreshing can of beer or coke, the most creative thing we do with the empty aluminium cylinder will be to crush it with our bare hands, run it over with a car to see just how flat we can get the thing or to wedge it between the frame and tyre of a bicycle to replicate the sound of a motorbike/Honda when on the move; we’ve all done at least two of these things, anyway…

Some people are more creative, however, like draughtsman Sandy from England (who now lives in New Zealand). He turned his attention to creating incredibly detailed models of cars.

Using his skill and following a motorbike accident that shattered his left wrist, Sandy had to step away from designing and building electric stringed instruments and instead turned his attentions to creating automotive masterpieces out of aluminium, a material that’s easier to shape and one that does not require the use of heavy power tools.

As you can see, the results of his many hours spent designing, shaping and building have paid off.

Included in his extensive portfolio are all manner of race cars, hot rods and unique rides, including the buggy you see above. A car takes Sandy upwards of 40 hours to make (not including the design process). If you’re feeling brave you can try your hand at beer can model car making by buying the plans for $10. Alternatively, the completed cars are for sale. The buggy (above) is made from 30 cans and is for sale for $2000 (£1200).
