These Watches Are Built Partly Using Salvaged Classic Mustang Parts
Scrap-worthy Ford Mustangs are amazingly being turned into expensive watches.
REC Watches, based in Denmark, is scouring scrap yards across the world for the best old Mustangs with the richest pasts, taking what parts it can before the car is totally destroyed.
Metal parts from old Mustangs destined for recycling are being salvaged, their histories are being explored and then the pieces are being incorporated into small batches of watches.
Each watch even comes with a bespoke video based on its history, covering the history of the donor car and its journey. The idea belongs to Christian Mygh and Jonathan Kamstrup, who do the salvaging themselves.
Mygh is adamant that giving otherwise doomed cars a second life is the right thing to do. He said:
“Most people would just see a pile of metal, a ghost of a Mustang. We see something completely different – the soul of a car and a story that needs to be told.
“I’m not cutting up Mustangs. I’m bringing Mustangs that are beyond repair back to life as a watch.”
Each design incorporates the Mustang’s VIN, year of production and design features inspired by that model. There’s a power dial designed to look like a fuel gauge, while the hands are among a number of details inspired by the classic car’s dashboard.
Among the cars used by REC so far is a 1966 Mustang Raven Black model, a very rare animal but sadly beyond any chance of resurrection. Just 250 watches were made out of it for the company’s P51-04 collection. Anyone still need a Christmas present? Better hope you’ve got wealthy friends, because these Mustang-based watches start at $1495.

Fistfight damage: +15
Crowd fight damage +100000000000000
The watch is still cheaper than a classic Mustang
The watch starts at $1495, which is what you’d roughly pay for a base-model 6-cylinder coupé that needs restored but is not completely rusted out, and maybe with some missing parts. It’s up to you to decide where to invest the money 😃
It will give you the extra skill you need to crash your car into a crowd no matter what car it is…
Why the downvote friends?
I’m giving this man an upvote for effort! :D
Bueatiful idea
*beautiful
IDK why,but I feel like somehow, car companies should be making their iconic classic cars every 20 years. Not too much, just some for car enthusiasts
Made from scrap-worthy Mustangs? Crowd jokes incoming…
Is it powered by 5.0 v8?
Im in Riga rn. I actually hadnt thought of that. That could be around 400-500 euros if my memory serves well
I’d prefer to restore the Mustang TBH
Probably cars with frames bent or rusted beyond repair, I’m just glad they’re doing something to keep its legacy going.
