While there’s no doubt that the ej25 is a good engine, there are a few reasons why it’s not the best. It’s not reliable when pushed hard, I’ve learned this the hard way. It’s also not very economical, and needs to be boosted to make good power. My vote is for Honda engines. The k24,along with the other vtec equipped engines are excellent. Yes they lack torque, but the fact that the engine is meant to be driven on the top end makes it so fun. Not to mention it’s more economical, and reliable compared to the subaru. It’s also easy to work on.
All is fine and perfect until you have to change your oil filter
As much as I am leaning towards SR20DET in my Nissan, the fact it’s currently being repaired made me think about my 2nd motor - BMWs M47. With it’s outstanding power figure of 110 kw, enormous 330 Nm torque and fuel consumption being averaged 5.4l/100km while driving like a pig, this package is perfect powerplant for daily driver. 300k kms, not a single thing broken… have my vote my reliable friend :)
Can you convert that to murica
Can’t include the SR20DET in the list as it was first used in 1989 (a little more that 20 years ago).
