Tony Stewart Not Charged In Kevin Ward Jr's Death

Last month Tony Stewart was involved in a shocking incident that claimed the life of 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr. After tangling on the track, Ward Jr ran into traffic to remonstrate with Stewart, who collided with the young driver, causing fatal injuries.

Yesterday a grand jury ruled that Tony Stewart would not face charges over the incident. After reviewing photographs, videos and witness statements, the jury concluded there was no basis to charge the 43-year-old.

Ontario County (N.Y.) District Attorney Michael Tantillo later said that toxicology reports had found that, at the time of the incident, Ward Jr was under the influence of marijuana. It is unclear whether this directly influenced the jury’s decision, but this, coupled with the fact he ran onto a hot track, will surely have helped Stewart’s case.
