Top 10 In-Car Supercar Ride Videos
Just like you, I'm sitting here on my sofa wishing that it was a supercar. Tell me I'm not just mentally unstable. Thanks to the beauty of YouTube, we can all sit in or even drive the rides we've been dreaming about. And I'm only half lying.
Just like you, I'm sitting here on my sofa wishing that it was a supercar. Tell me I'm not just mentally unstable. Thanks to the beauty of YouTube, we can all sit in or even drive the rides we've been dreaming about. And I'm only half lying. Turn up the speakers and prepare yourself for ten clips guaranteed to give you an eargasm.
10. Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed
Let's kick things off with a subtle start in the form of a four-door saloon. This is Car Throttle though, so it's not just any saloon M&S voice. The Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed (breathes) is one of the fastest - if not the current fastest - luxury four-door you can buy today for just under £160,000 with a 6.0-litre W12 housing 610 horses giving the 2 tonne luxo-barge a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 200mph. If the car wasn't refined to near perfection, we would be able to hear that 12 cylinder monster much better. This one is having a spin round a little circuit but I'd much rather cruise to the CT office in this from my home in the far north.
9. Lamborghini Aventador
This is much more like it. Not everyday do you have the chance to get a lift in a Lamborghini Aventador since not a lot of people have a spare £242,000 lying around, so naturally you would film it if you could. The best bit in this clip is when the 700hp 6.5-litre V12 - that can go from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds and all the way up to 217mph - blasts through a tunnel. However, I bet you're sitting there thinking nothing sounds better than that.
8. Mercedes SLS AMG
How about the Mercedes SLS AMG? That raw 6.2-litre V8 muscle produces 571hp naturally, meaning it can cover the 0-62mph sprint in 3.8 seconds and can go up to a top speed of 197mph. A great noise from the AMG unit there but I think there is a better sounding one from the not too distant past.
7. Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster
Give the AMG muscle a whine from a supercharger and you have a great symphony. The bonus we have with this passenger ride is that this particular SLR is the roadster, and roof down means noise up. The main reason why the 626hp 5.4-litre Supercharged V8 GT car is rarer than it's successor is the fact that almost 100% of the materials are carbon fibre, making the buying price twice as much as the current Gullwing. Now you're sitting there thinking it would be impossible to find a passenger ride in a rarer car. Oh no sir.
6. Porsche Carrera GT
Only 1,270 Porsche Carrera GTs were produced between 2004 and 2007, making the fella with the camera one of the luckiest people alive in my opinion. It's one of the most powerful and fastest Porsches ever made with a 5.7-litre V10 producing 612hp giving it a 0-62mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 201.5mph. But that noise...
5. Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition
What's better than getting a lift in the Lexus LFA? Driving it would be one thing but so is getting a lift around the Nurburgring. This chap got a ride with one of the test drivers from Lexus in this special Nurburgring edition of the car, which has 10hp more from the 4.8-litre V10 - bringing it up to 571hp plus faster gear changes, stiffer suspension, lightweight alloys and a big wing on the back.
4. Aston Martin V12 Vantage
My personal favourite Aston. Sticking the big 510hp 6-litre V12 in the baby Vantage was a genius idea, so good it oh-so-nearly brought Jeremy Clarkson to tears when he was reviewing it on Top Gear. The guitarist Slash has one you know. Unless you need to regularly chauffeur your mates - in which case the Rapide is the British beauty you'll need - why would you want any other Aston?
3. Koenigsegg Agera
Reversing out of the parking space then getting the car to the long straight doesn't half build up tension, am I right? Once this Agera gets to the long stretch, you'll be able to hear the 940hp 5-litre twin turbo V8 shoot the car from 0-62mph in just 3 seconds and it can go up to a top speed of 242mph.
2. Ferrari FF
We're not just in the Ferrari FF for this clip, we're driving it... well, almost. The driving shots tied in with some exterior flashes make this a great video to watch. Did I mention the great V12 noise from the 651hp 6.3-litre engine? Here you'll see the FF is incredibly usable, even in a wintry spell of weather, thanks to four wheel drive plus it's a proper four seat car thanks to the shooting brake body style.
1. Bugatti Veyron
All car nutters out there would kill just to get a lift in the Bugatti Veyron, never mind get behind the wheel of one. This lucky little... 'so and so' managed to get a ride with Le Mans racer Butch Leitzinger. After he's given us a little history and driving lesson, we hear the 1001hp 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 behave like an aircraft. Calm turbine like whine when taxiing and then a sudden burst of thrust when taking off from 0-62mph in just 2.4 seconds and up to a top speed of around 254mph. Impressive in 2005, making it the most powerful car at the time, but the Veyron Supersport is business now.
