To sum it up for ya the analogy with the wall is false. One analogy that makes sense is (as EE said in his video) “Torque is what pushes you back in your seat. Horsepower is what keeps you there” …
That analogy is actually really catchy, and way more accurate
Good guy Jason, educating car guys since 2011.
Im waiting for that day when one of theses rolls over..
It’s going to make the 20111 Japanese Earthquake seem like a small shake.
Shouldn’t the original thing be backwards? Tq is how fast you hit the wall and Hp how far you take the wall with you?
Because torque is how fast you accelerate. While hp is torque x rpm. Or is there a danker meme here?
(Haven’t watched the video yet.)
oh..
Torque is not how fast you accelerate. Torque x gearing is how fast you accelerate momentarily. But in order to reach the highest speed when you reach the wall (ie accelerate over a larger time period). Power is of greater importance.
And yes before you write, I know peak power doesn’t necessarily mean anything, likewise peak torque doesn’t necessarily mean anything. let’s assume we got a bit of range on the power curve
And let’s not forget the most important thing is to not hit the wall at all. That’s what you get with good handling
Torque gets you off the line.
Horsepower keeps you going
Watching this and eating popcorn.. Literally. I like this channel

THANK YOU. I HATE THAT ANALOGY.
